This website, mrhao.co.nz, is operated by Mr Hao (Mt Eden), Auckland — part of the HaoGood Group family of restaurants. We serve dumplings at 365 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1024.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

We only collect personal information you choose to give us:

1. Name & email — when you join our newsletter (on the Journal page or the welcome popup) or send us a message through the contact form.
2. Phone number— if you include it in the contact form, or when it’s needed to manage a booking.
3. Booking details — name, contact details, party size, date and any requests you enter when reserving a table through SevenRooms.
4. Order & payment details — when you order takeaway or delivery through Your Order. Payments are handled by the ordering/payment provider; we do not store your card details on this website. For parties over 5 or special events, card details are entered via Stripe to confirm the booking (nothing is debited at booking).
5. Gift voucher details — when you buy an eGift through our provider, Vecport.
6. Analytics & cookies data — behind-the-scenes usage data (pages viewed, device type). See our Cookie Notice.

We collect personal information for clear, lawful purposes only:

1. To confirm and manage your table bookings (including group deposits and cancellations).
2. To process and deliver your online orders.
3. To send you deals and news — only if you opted in to the newsletter.
4. To reply to your enquiries sent through the contact form.
5. To process gift voucher purchases and redemptions.
6. To understand how the website is used, so we can improve it (analytics).

We don’t use your booking or order details for marketing unless you’ve opted in.

Yes — you choose what to share. Some details are needed to complete a specific request (for example, a contact number for a booking, or a delivery address for an order); without them we may not be able to complete that booking or order. Newsletter signup is always optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

We share personal information only with the service providers that make this website work, and only for the purposes above:

1. SevenRooms — table reservations and booking management.
2. Your Order— online takeaway & delivery ordering.
3. Stripe — card confirmation for group bookings and payment processing (via SevenRooms).
4. Vecport — eGift voucher purchase and redemption.
5. Meta (Facebook/Instagram) & Google — analytics and advertising measurement (Google Analytics / Tag Manager, Meta Pixel), plus the Instagram feed embedded on our pages. See our Cookie Notice for how to opt out.

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information.

Some of the providers above (for example SevenRooms, Stripe, Meta and Google) store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where personal information is held offshore, it may not be protected in exactly the same way as under the NZ Privacy Act 2020. We only use reputable providers that apply comparable privacy and security safeguards.

This website runs over HTTPS, we limit who on our team can access personal information, and we use established, reputable vendors for bookings, ordering and payments. No card numbers are stored on this website.

We keep personal information only for as long as it’s needed for the purposes described above — for example, while you’re subscribed to the newsletter, or while booking and order records are needed for our business and legal obligations — and then remove it. To have your information removed sooner, just ask (see “Your rights” below).

Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020 you can, at any time:

1. Ask what we hold — request a copy of the personal information we have about you.
2. Ask us to correct it — if anything is wrong or incomplete.
3. Ask us to delete it — including unsubscribing from the newsletter.
